Testweld™ Robot Force Gauge
Suitable for mounting at the robot tip dress station.
Advantages
- Hands-free auto checking of Electrode Force
- No operator intervention necessary
- No need to stop robot cells for force checking
- Increased production pays for cost of Gauge
- Alerts operators to faults and performance variations
- Prevents production of scrap
- Prevents damage and wear to welding equipment
- Keeps force within preset limits
- Gives early warning of possible equipment deterioration
- Continuous robot operation via go/no go signals
- Data logging provides QC records
Ease of Use
The Robot Force Gauges are simple to use. One sensor head can be mounted on a suitable pedestal inside the robot cell and the Interface Control Unit positioned with other control equipment nearby.
When interfaced with the Robot Control equipment, the ICU sets and monitors the permissable high and low levels of electrode force.
A force check is usually incorporated into the robot tip dress routine. This then gives the control equipment a go/no go signal.
In the event that electrode force deviates outside the preset levels, an alarm can be activated or the robot halted.
Description
General
The Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited Robot Force Gauge is a three-piece unit comprising a sensor head, an amplifier and an interface control unit. It has been developed to test the force between electrodes of resistance welding robots used in the welding of sheet metal components in the Automotive industry.
Force Sensor
The sensor is designed to be mounted in a Robot Welding cell. It is rugged, made of stainless steel and measures force between 0-1000 kg, 0-1999lbs and 0-10 kN. It will not be damaged if dropped and is sealed to IP65 standards.
Interface Control Unit (ICU)
The ICU passes the information from the Force Sensor to the robot control equipment.
- The ICU is housed in a light grey ABS case sealed to IP65 standards and is suitably isolated for surface mounting.
- Mains operated (AC or DC)
- 4-20mA and 0-10V isolated analogue outputs
- Very user friendly
- Highly accurate
- 10 years data retention
- Digital programming, calibration and display
Description & Specifications
The sensor head is provided with mounting fixtures, so that it can be mounted on a pedestal or bracket in easy reach of the robot weld head. Once a force is applied it will send an electronic signal back to the Interface Control Unit to communicate with the robot controller
